Dr. Hafeez Basha

Associate Vice Chancellor, University of Emerging Technologies

Dr. Hafeez Basha’s journey is one of transformation and excellence. Starting as a researcher during his B. Tech, he presented award-winning papers and worked on a groundbreaking Waste-to-Energy project at SELCO International, India’s first thermal power plant. His corporate career began as a GIS Engineer at Satyam Computers, contributing to NAVTEQ projects for NOKIA, and as a Research Analyst at Thomson Reuters, where he earned his M. Tech through their ‘Learn While You Earn’ program, winning the Young Scientist Award for his research.

He pursued his Ph.D. at Kumamoto University, Japan, under the prestigious Monbukagakusho Scholarship, earning the Dean’s Award for Research Excellence. He also secured multiple international travel grants, attending programs in Vietnam and France, and visited 13+ countries without personal expense during his early career.

Upon returning to India, Dr. Basha became a prominent academic leader, serving as Dean/Director at engineering and business schools and contributing to UPSC question paper development. Transitioning into innovation and entrepreneurship, he led Technology Business Incubators at Chandigarh and Osmania Universities, inspiring over 10,000 students through talks at 140+ institutions, including IITs and NITs. His initiatives integrated startups into academia, fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems.

His inspiring journey was documented in the biography ‘CHASER – On a Journey of Transformation’, with a sequel, ‘CHASER 2 – On a Journey of Inspiration,’ set for release in 2024. These works are being adapted into a feature film and an OTT web series.

Dr. Basha has advised several government agencies, including:
- TN-RISE Women Startup Council
- Women Entrepreneurship Hub (WE-Hub)
- Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI)
- MSME & Skill Development Ministries
- Atal Innovation Mission (NITI-Aayog)

His contributions span workforce development, rural entrepreneurship, and innovation, making him a driving force in education, research, and entrepreneurship.
