Dr. Ahmet Oztas

Associate Vice-Chancellor, University of Emerging Technologies

Dr. Ahmet Oztas is a University Professor at Tishk International University (TIU) and serving as the director of International Relations Office and Research Center. Prior to these duties in June 2017, he served as the president of TIU (Previously known as Ishik University) from 2012 to 2017. Before presidency in TIU, Dr. Oztas has also many other international experiences as an administrator like Director of Vocational High School in Gaziantep University in Turkey from 1999 to 2004 and Dean of Engineering Architecture Faculty in Epoka University in Albania from 2008 to 2012.

Dr. Oztas is a civil engineer with strong math background and a member of Turkish Chamber of Civil Engineers since 1987. Before joining to Gaziantep University/Turkey as a research assistant, He has worked as civil engineer in Turkish Construction Companies in different types of jobs like, structural designer, site engineer and quantity surveyor.

He has started to his academic career in Gaziantep University, Civil Engineering Department after completing master program in Istanbul University on Construction management in 1988. While working in Gaziantep University, He has been granted a PhD. Scholarship by Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK) and completed his PhD in University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) at 1995. His research was on delay management and developed a Knowledge-Based System on the Mitigation of Construction Delays using Goldworks and LISP.

Dr. Oztas is a scientist in the field of construction project management with a track record in civil engineering, an experienced lecturer in higher education, and an inspiring leader of a multi-disciplinary team. He has work and research experience in 5 countries (Turkey, U.K., Italy, Albania and Iraq). He has also created a number of new courses in undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Gaziantep, Epoka and TIU universities.

Dr Oztas is also expert on developing new international collaborations in higher education. So far, he has established fruitful collaborations with universities/Companies in Germany, Poland, Italy, USA, U.K., Malaysia, India, Jordan and Georgia.
